A root canal procedure is often a great relief for our patients because it helps relieve them of pain associated with a damaged or infected tooth. And the procedure itself and the healing process are not nearly as painful and invasive as people think they are, fortunately for our patients.
In fact, at Keledjian Dental, we perform comfortable root canal therapy for patients regularly, creating better oral health and protecting their smiles.
The Healing Process After Root Canal Therapy
After your root canal procedure, you will likely feel numb for several hours. This ensures your comfort through the procedure and immediately following it. After the numbness wears off, you may experience some pain or pressure in the area for a few days while your tooth heals. During this time, we recommend a diet of soft food if you feel a bit uncomfortable. However, you should not experience enough discomfort to be unable to eat.
If you experience severe pain after your procedure or other symptoms that don’t seem right, we encourage you to contact our office for assistance. We’re here to help, and Dr. Jason Keledjian will see you as soon as possible to perform an exam and find out why you’re uncomfortable. If necessary, Dr. Keledjian may prescribe pain medication or antibiotics to promote better healing after your procedure.
In most cases, all signs of your root canal treatment should disappear within a few days, and you should be able to enjoy a pain-free life again!
A Dental Crown After a Root Canal
After you’ve recovered from your root canal treatment, Dr. Keledjian will most likely recommend placing a dental crown over the affected tooth. A dental crown will protect the tooth, which may have become weaker during the root canal procedure. We will customize the dental crown to match your smile, creating a seamless look while strengthening your oral health.
