Ask any married couple and they will tell you that marriage requires a lot of work even in the best of times. Adding an additional stressor such as snoring into the mix can put unnecessary strain on your relationship. When you think about it, having two sleepy partners could increase relationship tension in no time. Suddenly those little problems become big ones when you feel exhausted and frustrated.

Often, when a spouse snores, two separate bedrooms becomes an only option. While it may sound nice to have your own bed for a while, in the long term it adds tension to any relationship by limiting intimacy and creating a rift between partners.

What can we do to help?

At Keledjian Dental, we effectively treat snoring and sleep apnea with the use of oral appliance therapy (OAT). The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) approved treatment with OAT in 2006 for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. Snoring is a common symptom of sleep apnea, but does not necessarily mean that you have sleep apnea. Only an accredited sleep study clinic can diagnose you with OSA.

Oral appliance therapy works by gently moving your lower jaw forward and opening your airway to prevent the obstruction that causes snoring. This effective and convenient treatment has helped many of our patients to achieve a better night’s sleep. Our oral appliances are small and portable, so you can easily take them with you when you travel.

Individuals who suffer from snoring and sleep apnea may stop breathing dozens of times during the night, causing your body to awaken (even if you don’t remember it) in order to change positions and breathe again. This prevents a good night’s sleep and prevents your body from having delivering necessary oxygen to your organs and creates some serious health conditions.

Solving your snoring problems once and for all could save your marriage and your life.
