Periodontal Dentist in Madera, CA
Half of all Americans suffer from periodontal (gum) disease and should be seen by periodental dentists. Gum disease can jeopardize your teeth and overall health because it is an infection. Anytime your gums bleed is a sign that something is wrong and it should be addressed if it persists for more than a day or two. People who see blood in the sink after brushing or flossing often think that it is normal, but it is not. Blood always indicates a problem.

Gum Infection Treatment
By maintaining healthy gums, you support the health of your entire body. At Keledjian Dental, we offer periodontal treatments to restore the health of your gums. Your treatment will be based on your history and unique condition.
Early periodontal disease can be reversed with proper and diligent care through periodontal therapy. If you have not been practicing good dental hygiene or if you have not been to the dentist in awhile, we may recommend specialized cleanings.
We will begin with these cleanings to remove any large amounts of plaque and tartar. You may only require a cleaning or we may recommend several specialized cleanings to remove plaque and bacteria below the gum line.
Root Planing and Scaling (Specialized Cleaning)
Our hygienists may measure the pockets in your gums in diagnosing symptoms for the best gum infection treatment regimen. When healthy, gums should hug tightly to your tooth. Gums are attached to the root of the tooth with ligaments. Without proper hygiene practices, the gums pull away from the tooth allowing bacteria and food particles to pack into the gap between your tooth and gums. This can lead to infection, decay, and tooth loss if not treated. In our office, we offer root planing and scaling to remove plaque and bacteria below the gum line.
Our hygienists have received extensive training and are highly skilled at root planing and scaling. They will make sure you are comfortable for the procedure and will gently and expertly remove any plaque or tartar from below the gum line. They will also place any additional medication to assist in healing, if necessary.
Once your procedure is complete, Dr. Keledjian will recommend a hygiene schedule with preventative treatments to help keep you on track and infection free. Our office believes in education, so we will share proper techniques that you can use at home to maintain the health of your teeth and gums.
