Custom Dental Crowns
If you have a cracked tooth or you have experienced extensive decay, you may require a dental crown. Dental crowns for teeth are like protective covers placed over the structure of your tooth to help stabilize and strengthen your bite. They come in metal and porcelain blends as well as all porcelain crowns. Dr. Jason Keledjian will be able to make a recommendation for porcelain crowns that would work best for your unique situation.
Often, dentistry crowns for teeth become necessary because without them you risk further damaging your tooth. Once significant decay or cracks appear in your tooth, the structure becomes weakened. Often people break a tooth chewing on something as soft as bread because the cracks were already there.
When Dr. Keledjian makes a crown for you, he will remove all decay from your tooth so that it will not spread. He will create a temporary crown to stabilize your tooth until your permanent crown is returned from the dental lab. You're encouraged to ask us lots of questions on our dental crowns procedures and about dental crown costs. Dr. Keledjian can show you what the entire crown on tooth process looks like and describe the appropriate treatment procedure.
Your permanent crown will be a custom shade to match the rest of your teeth. Once it is returned from the dental lab, Dr. Keledjian will permanently seat the crown on your tooth, creating an airtight seal. He will make any necessary adjustments so that your crown is comfortable and functional for chewing.
A traditional dental bridge is created to replace a missing tooth. The teeth adjacent to your missing tooth will have special crowns placed on them. They will hold an artificial tooth (pontic) in place with special abutment crowns.
Bridges can also be created in a custom shade to match your natural teeth. Bridges assist in chewing, speaking, and in holding your teeth in place. Otherwise, a gap in your smile can cause your other teeth to tip or tilt, putting your bite in jeopardy.
Other types of bridges called cantilever bridges are available for situations where only one adjacent tooth is available to anchor your new artificial tooth. A Maryland bridge is another type utilizing small metal wings attached to adjacent teeth to hold the pontic in place.
When you visit our Madera office, Dr. Jason Keledjian will be able to recommend a bridge that will work for your unique situation.
